Description: Built in 1828, Wheatland is a home built by a wealthy Lancaster banker and named for its view of the rich wheat fields around it. The house was bought by James Buchanan in 1848, where he lived following his presidency. Wheatland is owned and operated by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland, and it is open to the public.
